EKM Corporation And LABTrack, LLC Settle Lawsuit Over Electronic Laboratory Notebook Software December 24, 2007 - For Immediate Release D Stewart Larson, CEO of EKM Corporation and Richard Stember, CEO of Labtrack, LLC, announced today that they have reached a settlement agreement regarding ownership of LABTrack electronic laboratory notebook software. This settlement resolves the litigation over the software that began last spring. Under the terms of the agreement, EKM Corporation and Labtrack, LLC will jointly own and retain the right to sell and support licenses of LABTrack 2.0 and LIMS software. Either party may independently develop derivative software and will retain exclusive ownership of those derivative works. EKM Corporation plans to phase out use of the LABTrack trademarks for its software products over the next six months. Based on this agreement, customers can purchase the LABTrack electronic laboratory notebook software from either company without concern about disputes over intellectual property rights in the software. In agreeing to this settlement, neither Stember nor EKM Corporation has admitted any wrongdoing. |
